How hard are they to keep?

They?re quite easy to keep, making them a great choice for beginners and experienced aquarists alike. As long as you provide clean water and a suitable environment, they?ll thrive in your tank.

What is its maximum size?

Smudge Spot Corys stay relatively small, reaching about 2.5 inches (6 cm) in length. Perfect for smaller tanks or as part of a larger community setup.

Where are they from?

These corydoras hail from South America, specifically from the Rio Madeira basin in Brazil. They?re accustomed to soft, slow-moving waters in their natural habitat.

How many can I keep?

Corydoras are social creatures and should be kept in groups. A minimum of six is recommended, but more is always better. They love to shoal together, and keeping them in groups helps them feel safe and comfortable.

How compatible are they with other fish?

Smudge Spot Corys are very peaceful and get along well with most community fish. They?re bottom-dwellers, so they won?t bother other fish and are unlikely to be bothered in return. Ideal tankmates include tetras, guppies, and other small, non-aggressive species.

What are the ideal water conditions?

They prefer a temperature range of 69-82?F (21-28?C) and a pH level between 6.0 and 7.5. They thrive in soft to moderately hard water. How do you tell the difference between male and female?

Females are generally larger and rounder, especially when viewed from above. Males are slimmer and slightly smaller. These differences become more noticeable as they mature.
