How hard are they to keep? Giant danios are considered relatively easy to keep. They are suitable for beginner fishkeepers with a basic understanding of aquarium care.

What is its maximum size? Giant danios can grow up to a maximum size of around 4 inches (10 cm).

Where are they from? They are native to Southeast Asia and can be found in freshwater rivers and streams in countries such as India, Myanmar, Thailand, and Indonesia.

How many can I keep? Giant danios are active and social fish, so it is recommended to keep them in groups of at least 6 individuals. The more individuals you keep, the more comfortable and natural their behaviour will be.

How compatible are they with other fish? Giant danios are generally peaceful and can be compatible with other larger, peaceful fish. However, they can sometimes be a little boisterous and may chase smaller, slower tankmates. It’s best to avoid keeping them with very small or delicate fish.

What are the ideal water conditions? They prefer a temperature range of 72-79°F (22-26°C) and a pH level between 6.5-7.5. Giant danios can tolerate a wide range of water conditions but prefer well-oxygenated water with moderate to high water flow. The Giant Danios that are for sale have been climatized to our local water conditions.

How do you tell the difference between male and female? Male giant danios are usually slimmer and more brightly coloured than females. During breeding, females may have a rounder belly as they carry eggs.
