We also stock freshwater shrimp, snails and live aquarium plants.

Because livestock changes regularly, we recommend checking our website or contacting us if you’re travelling to see a particular fish.

Yes. Every new fish goes through our quarantine process before being offered for sale.

We have around 30 dedicated quarantine tanks, situated above our main display aquariums.

Fish are normally quarantined for two weeks, allowing us time to rest, feed and monitor them before they are moved into our sales tanks.

Fish health is extremely important to us and is one of the reasons we invested so heavily in our quarantine system.

No.

Our sales aquariums are individually filtered, so water isn’t circulated from one aquarium through the rest of the shop.

This allows us to manage each aquarium individually and helps reduce the risk of problems spreading between tanks.

Yes. Friendly Fish Aquatics holds a 5-star Animal Activities Licence.

Animal welfare is at the centre of how we run the shop, from our quarantine procedures to how our fish are housed and cared for.

Absolutely.

We enjoy helping people set up their first aquarium and we’ll happily explain things in straightforward language.

We can help with choosing an aquarium, cycling your tank, water testing, filtration, feeding, plants and, most importantly, choosing fish that are suitable for your aquarium and compatible with each other.

There is never any pressure to buy fish that aren’t right for your setup.

Yes  community fish are our speciality.

Tell us your aquarium size, what fish you already have and, ideally, your water parameters, and we’ll help you choose suitable additions.

If we don’t think a particular fish is right for your aquarium, we’ll tell you.

Yes. If you’re having problems with your aquarium or aren’t sure whether your tank is ready for fish, speak to us in store about having your water checked.

Knowing your water parameters can make diagnosing aquarium problems much easier.

Yes. We stock a changing selection of live aquarium plants suitable for everything from beginner aquariums to established planted tanks.

We can also help you choose plants suitable for your aquarium, lighting and experience level.

Yes. We regularly stock freshwater shrimp and aquarium snails alongside our tropical fish.

Availability changes, so check our current stock or contact us if you’re looking for something particular.

Yes.

As well as livestock, we stock aquariums and a range of fishkeeping equipment including filters, heaters, fish foods, water treatments, substrates, decorations and other aquarium essentials.

We can also help you choose the right equipment for your aquarium rather than simply selling you something you don’t need.

Yes.

Our livestock changes regularly, so if you’re travelling specifically for one species, it’s always worth checking before making the journey.

You can browse our current fish selection on our website or contact us directly.

If you’re looking for something we don’t currently have, please ask us.

We can’t promise that every species will be available from our suppliers, but we’re always happy to see what we can find.

We’re an independent tropical fish shop run by fishkeepers.

We have 109 aquariums, around 30 dedicated quarantine tanks, individually filtered sales tanks and a 5-star pet shop licence.

But what matters most to us is giving customers honest advice and selling healthy fish that are suitable for their aquariums.

Whether you’re setting up your first tank or you’ve been keeping fish for years, you’re always welcome to come in, have a look around and talk fish with us.
