What is its maximum size? Sunset Platys typically reach a maximum size of around 2.5-3 inches (6-7.5 cm).

Where are they from? Sunset Platys are native to Central America, specifically Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala.

How many can I keep? They are social fish and prefer to be kept in groups of 4-6 individuals. Keeping them in larger groups can also enhance their behavior and reduce any aggressive tendencies.

How compatible are they with other fish? Sunset Platys are generally peaceful and compatible with a variety of community fish. They can be kept with other peaceful species like tetras, danios, guppies, mollies, and swordtails. Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species as tankmates.

What are the ideal water conditions? Sunset Platys can thrive in a wide range of water conditions. They prefer a temperature between 70-82°F (21-28°C), a pH level of 7-8, and moderately hard water with a hardness of 10-28 dGH. How do you tell the difference between male and female? Males are generally smaller and more colourful than females. Additionally, males have a modified anal fin called a gonopodium, which is long and slender, used for reproduction. Females tend to have a larger body size and a more rounded anal fin.
