How hard are they to keep? Penguin Tetras are considered to be relatively easy to keep, making them suitable for beginner to intermediate aquarists.

What is its maximum size? They typically grow to a maximum size of around 2.5 inches (6.5 cm).

Where are they from? Penguin Tetras are native to the Amazon Basin in Brazil, specifically the Rio Negro and its tributaries.

How many can I keep? These tetras are social fish and should be kept in groups of at least six individuals, with larger groups being more ideal. They thrive when they have companions of their own species.

How compatible are they with other fish? Penguin Tetras are generally peaceful and can be kept in community aquariums with other small, peaceful fish. They are known to be compatible with other tetra species, rasboras, peaceful dwarf cichlids, and similar non-aggressive species.

What are the ideal water conditions? They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water with a pH range of 6.0-7.5. The water temperature should be kept between 75-82°F (24-28°C). Providing them with a well-planted tank and some open swimming space is beneficial. The Penguin Tetras that are for sale have been climatized to our local water conditions.

How do you tell the difference between Male and female? Males of the Penguin Tetra species are typically smaller, slimmer, and more colourful compared to females. During the breeding season, males may display more intense red coloration on their fins.
