Where are they from? Green Swordtails are native to Central America, specifically Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala.

How many can I keep? Swordtails are social fish and should be kept in groups of at least 3 to 5 individuals. They thrive in community tanks.

How compatible are they with other fish? Green Swordtails are generally peaceful and can coexist with a variety of peaceful fish species. They do well in community tanks with similar-sized and non-aggressive fish.

What are the ideal water conditions? Green Swordtails prefer a water temperature between 72-82°F (22-28°C), a pH level between 7.0-8.3, and moderately hard water with a hardness of 12-20 dGH. How do you tell the difference between Male and female? Male Green Swordtails have a distinct elongated lower caudal fin, resembling a sword. Females have a shorter, rounded caudal fin. Additionally, males may display more vibrant colours and have a gonopodium, a modified anal fin used for reproduction.
