How hard are they to keep? Golden Barbs are relatively easy to keep and are suitable for beginner aquarists. They are hardy and adaptable to a wide range of water conditions.

What is its maximum size? The maximum size of a Golden Barb is around 3 inches (7-8 cm).

Where are they from? Golden Barbs are native to East Asia, specifically China, and are found in freshwater streams and rivers in the region.

How many can I keep? Golden Barbs are social fish and should be kept in groups of at least 6 individuals. This will allow them to exhibit their natural schooling behaviour and feel more secure.

How compatible are they with other fish? Golden Barbs are generally peaceful and can coexist with other peaceful community fish. However, they may occasionally nip at the fins of slow-moving or long-finned fish.

What are the ideal water conditions? Golden Barbs prefer slightly acidic to neutral water with a pH range of 6.5-7.5. The Golden Barbs that are for sale have been climatized to our local water conditions.  The water temperature should be maintained between 72-79°F (22-26°C). They appreciate a well-planted aquarium with open swimming spaces.

How do you tell the difference between male and female? It can be difficult to visually differentiate between male and female Golden Barbs. However, males may display brighter coloration and more elongated dorsal and anal fins during the breeding season.
