How hard are they to keep? Ember Tetras are generally easy to care for, making them suitable for beginner aquarists. They are hardy and adaptable to a range of water conditions.

What is its maximum size? Ember Tetras typically reach a maximum size of around 0.75 inches (2 cm).

Where are they from? Ember Tetras are native to the Araguaia river basin in Brazil.

How many can I keep? They are social fish and should be kept in small groups of at least 6 or more individuals.

How compatible are they with other fish? Ember Tetras are peaceful and compatible with other small, non-aggressive fish species. They should be kept with similarly sized tankmates to avoid potential predation or aggression.

What are the ideal water conditions? They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water conditions, with a pH range of 5.5-7.0. The temperature should be maintained between 76-82°F (24-28°C). Providing a well-planted aquarium with subdued lighting and areas of open swimming space mimics their natural habitat. The Ember Tetras that are for sale have been climatized to our local water conditions.

How do you tell the difference between male and female? It is challenging to visually differentiate between male and female Ember Tetras as they lack distinct external sexual characteristics. Breeding behaviour may be a better indication of their gender.

Fun Fact: Ember Tetras get their name from their striking fiery orange-red coloration, reminiscent of glowing embers. Despite their small size, they can add a vibrant burst of color to a community aquarium. They are known for their active schooling behaviour, creating an eye-catching display.
