Bumblebee Platys typically reach a size of 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm), which makes them suitable for smaller tanks as well as larger community aquariums.

Where are they from?
Originally, Platys are native to the freshwater habitats of Central America, particularly in Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. The Bumblebee variety is a selectively bred colour morph known for its striking coloration.

How many can I keep?

Bumblebee Platys are peaceful and generally get along well with other non-aggressive community fish, including guppies, tetras, mollies, and Corydoras catfish. Their friendly nature makes them great additions to community tanks.

What are the ideal water conditions?
Bumblebee Platys prefer slightly alkaline water, with a pH range of 7.0 to 8.0. The ideal temperature should be maintained between 64-82?F (18-28?C). They are adaptable to varying water hardness levels, and a well-planted tank with open swimming areas will create a comfortable environment.

How do you tell the difference between male and female?
Males tend to be smaller and sport a gonopodium (a modified anal fin), while females are usually larger and rounder, especially when they are carrying fry.

Fun Fact:
Bumblebee Platys are named for their unique coloration, which features bold black and yellow stripes resembling a bumblebee’s markings. This striking appearance not only adds vibrancy to your aquarium but also makes them a favourite among aquarists.
